Women Empowerment
Skills, savings groups and income for women in tribal and nomadic families.
Umred, Bhivapur, Hingna and Kalmeshwar talukas, and Besa
Since 2006 NiViM has worked with women's self-help groups (small savings groups) in Umred and nearby talukas. Women learn skills that earn money, like making products from cow dung and eco-friendly diyas, and they lead village work on health, food and farming.
What we do
- Train self-help groups in skills and small business (with NABARD support, 2006 to 2008).
- A skill centre at NETRAVAN where women and farmers learn to make cow-dung products (opened 11 October 2020).
- Workshops on eco-friendly Ganesh idols and diyas, and fairs to sell what the groups make.
- Health, hygiene and anti-tobacco camps for women and families.
- Work with Pardhi nomadic women on new ways to earn a living, since 2011.
For CSR teams: fits Schedule VII (iii) empowering women of the Companies Act, 2013.
