Accessibility

Our aim

We want everyone to be able to use nivim.org, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or slow connections. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we have done

• Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "skip to content" link.
• Photographs have text descriptions. Decorative map lines are hidden from screen readers.
• Text and buttons meet contrast guidelines, and the site works when zoomed to 200%.
• The interactive map has a written equivalent: every site on it is described on its programme page.
• Pages are light, so they load on slow mobile connections.

Known gaps

• Annual report summaries are images. We are working on text versions.
• Marathi and Hindi versions are still being written.
